      Dementia

An interactive and informal study day designed for non-specialist members of the primary care or community team who care for people at risk of or diagnosed with dementia and their families. The aim of this study day is for practitioners to acquire knowledge and understanding of the types and causes of dementia and the principles of the treatment, so they have the confidence to refer for diagnosis, support the management and approach the many challenges of this condition effectively in Primary Care. The day can be tailored to the level of the delegates with more time and emphasis placed on the appropriate content.

      Mental Health 1 – Introduction

How to help with mental health.

Mental health is a component of 33% of presentations to GP’s and the most prominent cited reason for ‘fit notes’. In addition, people with long-term conditions are two to three times more likely to experience mental health problems than the general population. It is therefore crucial that GP’s and Nurses keep up to date with diagnostic criteria and how best to treat mental health difficulties.

      Motivational Interviewing

There is an introduction and then each of the core skills of MI are taken a step at a time.  There is laughter and fun with NO POWER POINT!!!  Yes, you heard it here first.  There is NO ROLE PLAY!!  There is simply excellent training. What you learn is through informal demonstrations.  We keep it simple and practical so from the moment you leave you can start practising. You can’t hurt anyone by using MI, but you may well save your forehead as you will be able to stop banging your head against the brick wall of behavioural change.
