|Study day at venue|
We will give you an overview of CHD from stable angina to acute coronary syndromes and myocardial infarction. Starting with how the heart works normally we explain what happens when CHD develops – making sense of the wide range of symptoms and explaining the ways in which the heart tries to protect itself.
Using clinical cases and current guidelines we discuss how CHD is diagnosed and managed, looking at the role of medication, secondary prevention and lifestyle choices. We explain the role of revascularisation procedures and the importance of cardiac rehabilitation and shared decision making in patient-centred care.
This informal study day is designed for all members of the primary care team including those working in cardiac rehabilitation. The aim of the day is for healthcare practitioners to acquire knowledge of CHD so they have the confidence to care for people with CHD effectively in Primary Care.
- Understand how the heart works and what happens when CHD develops.
- Appreciate the difference between stable angina and unstable acute coronary syndromes and how these present in primary care.
- Understand how CHD is diagnosed and the treatments available including: healthy lifestyle choices, medication and secondary prevention strategies.
