Course Delivery & Duration
The Practical ECG training course is a one day workshop with learning materials. It follows the syllabus of the Certificate in Practical Electrocardiography.
GP, Health Care Assistant, Nurse, Registered Healthcare Practitioners, Paramedic
An ECG is only useful as a screening tool when quality and adherence to guidelines exist.
The 12 lead ECG is an essential diagnostic tool in the management and treatment of ischaemic heart disease (Jevon, 2000).
When recording a 12 lead ECG it is important to ensure accuracy and standardisation in order to avoid misinterpretation of the ECG and mismanagement of the patient (Jevon, 2003).
- This workshop can be a standalone course or undertaken with Day 2.
- Between days 1 and 2 you will need to complete a learning log.
- Day 2 is a preparatory day with practical exam experience. This day consolidates your knowledge base to enable you, if you wish, to register for the Certificate in Practical Electrocardiography. This is the nationally recognised competency qualification in ECG recording. The awarding body is the Society for Cardiological Science and Technology (SCST)
- This qualification demonstrates the ability to accurately perform an ECG, by which practitioners are assessed for competency in all Healthcare environments.
