The course commences with a one day workshop and lasts for four months. A variety of teaching methods are used in the workshop, including practical instruction.
Health Care Assistant
The role of the Health Care Assistant in primary care has become more developed in recent years. This study day enables them to further expand their role into the area of wound care and associated skills.
The study day will cover the structure and function of the skin, the healing process, wound care, dressing choice and suture / clip removal.

Each clinical skill will be assessed by the mentor using Fearon guidelines.
A competency sheet will be provided for each clinical skill for completion by student and mentor.
Students will produce a reflective statement for each of the clinical skills, which should be submitted to the Training Centre alongside completed clinical skills activity sheets and completed competencies.
