The Phlebotomy training course consist of a one day workshop, and four months in own workplace to complete the competencies.
Administration Staff, GP, Health Care Assistant, Nurse, Registered Healthcare Practitioners, Paramedic
This phlebotomy training will provide the underpinning knowledge for venepuncture and related issues.
A practical session will help to put the theory into practice.
The student will gain an understanding of:
- The anatomy and physiology of blood vessels
- The issues relating to venepuncture
- Issues relating to infection control and health and safety
- Accountability
Attendees will return to their own place of work to gain the competence required for safe practice. This will include the completion of a phlebotomy clinical activity sheet signed off by their mentor. Upon completion and return of this sheet a certificate of competence will be issued by the Primary Care Training Centre.
