Health Care Assistant
This half day update session is suitable for experienced Health Care Assistants working within primary care, who work alongside a registered nurse mentor, and have successfully completed the Influenza and Pneumococcal Vaccination for Healthcare Assistant Course. Students must have completed CPR Training within the previous twelve months.
The course will cover: relevant current issues in flu vaccination; changes to national policy and schedules; review of current practice and identification on areas for improvement; recognition and management of anaphylaxis; question and answers session for commonly-encountered problems in practice.
The update will also enable suitably trained Health Care Assistants to administer hydroxocobalamin as a duty delegated by an independent prescriber.
There will be no formal assessment. A Certificate, valid for one year, will be issued on completion of update session.
