One day interactive workshop.
Health Care Assistant, Nurse, Registered Healthcare Practitioners, Paramedic
This one-day course unravels the concept of CV risk. It discusses the direct relationship of CV risk on the formation of atheroma, and the impact of atherosclerosis, leading to heart attacks, strokes and other vascular diseases. It provides a comprehensive guide to the individual CV risk factors and explains why their early identification and modification is important for primary prevention. The course demonstrates how the routine collection of risk factor data can be a straightforward process, explains the use of CV risk charts both paper and electronic. All the relevant Skills for Health Competencies are also provided. The course complements but is not a substitute for our main cardiovascular disease training course.
By the end of the study day, the student will:
- Be aware of current evidence based guidelines
- Understand the modifiable and non modifiable risk factors and the clustering effect
- Understand the reason for risk assessment
- Have the ability to assess cardiovascular risk
- Have an awareness of risk assessment tools and the need for good data quality
- Be able to take appropriate non clinical action
