Two new 'Essential Skills' courses28 Sep 2007

Minor Illnesses and Minor Injuries

The Primary Care Training Centre, in association with Teaching Health, is delighted to announce two brand new four-day courses, available now.

Minor Injuries - Essential Skills

Increasing numbers of patients with injuries are accessing primary care services. This 4 day programme equips health care professionals with the key skills to assess a range of minor injuries safely. Students will be taught using a systematic approach, with the skills being suitable for the minor injuries, walk in centre or primary care setting. A combination of interactive lectures, workshops and skills practice are delivered by an experienced nurse practitioner, using a common sense view backed by best evidence.

Minor Illness - Essential Skills

Increasingly nurses are becoming involved in assessing patients who present with illnesses. The skills of history taking, creating differential diagnosis and defining red flags (worrying symptoms) are used to create safe practice boundaries. With a range of common presentations being explored along with the evidence to manage them, the 4 days are delivered with interactive lecture, workshop and skills sessions. Delivered by an experienced nurse practitioner this is a useful foundation or refresher for nurses in general practice, walk in centres or out of hours care.

The courses will run at Crow Trees, or in your area subject to minimum numbers, and will consist of two two-day sessions. For more information, or to book a place, please contact us on 01274 617617 or email admin@primarycaretraining.co.uk.
