PCTC trains British Swimming Team coaches19 Jun 2007
Bespoke session a complete success
This week Linda Goldie had the opportunity to work with the coaches from the British Swimming Team after the Primary Care Training Centre was approached to deliver a bespoke session on capillary blood monitoring.
By monitoring lactate levels in the blood during exercise training programmes the correct training levels can be achieved. The session covered both the practical aspects of blood monitoring and also issues related to consent, confidentiality, infection control and health and safety.
All of the participants evaluated the session as excellent and commented on the usefulness of both the presentation and the practical session. The course organiser described it as "very interesting and enjoyable - good value!!" Other comments included:
"All the presentation was enjoyable and all relevant."
"...discussions were thought-provoking which really helped."
"I expected to find the legislation area less interesting but in actual fact really enjoyed it (presentation style contributed to this)."
