2009 Flu Vaccination course dates announced14 Oct 2008

Book now to avoid disappointment

The Primary Care Training Centre is please to announce the first 2009 dates for the highly popular three-day course Influenza & Pneumococcal Vaccination for Health Care Assistants. The course will run in Bradford, London, and Neath, Wales. At the moment only the first two Bradford dates are on the timetable, but more will be released shortly.

The vaccination certificate course is aimed at experienced Health Care Assistants working within primary care who work alongside a registered nurse mentor. It is expected that students will have a minimum of two years experience and have completed NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or General Healthcare, or have evidence of ongoing development and learning and have had their competence assessed against National Occupational Standards or National Workforce Competencies at Level 3 standard. Students must have completed CPR Training within the previous twelve months.

For more information about National Occupational Standards, visit the Skills for Health website where you can download NOS that are relevant to the HCA role and use them as part of your personal development planning and training within your workplace.

The Flu Vaccination course has proved one of our most popular ever, with all three Bradford courses and the London and Wales events selling out within weeks of being announced. Two PCTs also booked this course as a satellite. Students were glowing in the praise they offered.

"It wasn't presented to us as some courses are with scare tactics and I feel much more confident and happy to administer these vaccines."

"Thoroughly enjoyed all three days - felt as if I learned something new each time."

"I enjoyed all aspects of the course. It was well presented, informal and relaxed and very informative."

"Injecting the orange!"

"Well presented and informative and relevant to my post as HCA."

"Both trainers were excellent and teach very well."

"Enjoyed all parts and for a course over three days found none of it boring."

We expect even greater demand in 2009, so book now to ensure YOUR place.

For those that completed this course in 2008, you can also attend a half-day annual update session at Crow Trees. Dates for these courses are also on the calendar.

Interested in holding one of these courses in your area? We can come to you at no extra charge. Minimum numbers apply. Call us for more details.
